Marie is a member of Noteworthy’s Soprano section who moved from Massachusetts to Philadelphia to get her Master’s degrees in Social Work and Public Health at UPenn. She is currently working in an ER doing crisis intervention and collaborating with legislators to improve community health policies. She is on the path to becoming a Licensed Clinical Social Worker- but open-minded and excited to see where her degree takes her!
Marie earned her Bachelor’s degree in International Relations and Spanish at Boston University. Her passion for social work was consistent throughout her undergraduate studies, where she worked for Spain’s major non-profit dedicated to eliminating domestic violence during her time abroad in Madrid. In her free time, she trained as a CrossFit, lifting, and running athlete, keeping her grounded during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.
Marie has always been a talented vocalist, beginning voice lessons in third grade with Eva Kendrick, an award winning coach, vocalist, and founder of a teaching studio in MA. Marie took lessons with Ms. Kendrick for ten years, specializing in Classical and Operatic Voice. While taking lessons, she competed, performed solos, and sang with an a cappella group called “Trills n’ Chills”. Some of her favorite competition songs include Glitter and Be Gay (Candide), Poor Wandering One (Pirates of Penzance), Villanelle (Dell’Acqua), Vanne o Rosa Fortunata (Bellini), No One Else (Natasha Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812), and I’ve Decided to Marry You (A Gentleman’s Guide to Love & Murder). She also won a competition held by the New England National Association of Teachers of Singing, with four other finalists. Marie is overwhelmingly grateful to her family, friends, and community that have continuously supported her singing throughout her life, lovingly declaring,
“it’s one of the most special gifts I’ve ever received.”
Unfortunately, the pandemic impacted Marie’s ability to pursue singing throughout college. Despite the short hiatus, her passion and gift for singing remained consistent in her life. She is ecstatic to be joining another group of singers and performing with friends once again after the world shut down for so long. For Marie, singing is her happy place, and in a group is even better-
“a much needed breath of fresh air!”
She is looking forward to everything the future holds, for both performing with Noteworthy and pursuing her career.
